A Recent CNC Machined Valve Body Project from Our Workshop
Last week, our workshop completed another batch of CNC Machined Valve Body parts for an overseas valve manufacturer. The order included several different body sizes, and each part had its own machining requirements.
Before machining started, our engineers checked the customer drawings again. Some dimensions were ordinary, but several sealing areas and threaded positions required closer control. For a CNC Machined Valve Body, even a small error in concentricity or sealing surface size may cause problems during valve assembly.
The raw castings were first inspected before entering the machining area. We checked the material condition, casting surface and machining allowance. Parts with obvious defects were not sent to the CNC machines. This step may take additional time, but it helps avoid wasting machining hours on unsuitable castings.
For this order, the CNC Machined Valve Body parts were produced from stainless steel castings. The machining work included internal boring, flange-face machining, drilling, threading and sealing-surface finishing. Different tools were used for different positions instead of trying to finish the whole part in one setup.
Our operators also checked the parts during production. They did not wait until the final inspection to find problems. Key dimensions were measured after several machining steps, especially the bore diameter, flange thickness, bolt-hole position and thread depth.
This is important because a CNC Machined Valve Body often has several connected dimensions. When one position changes, another position may also be affected. Checking the part during machining gives the operator time to adjust the process before the part is completed.
One challenge in this batch was controlling the sealing surface. The customer required a smooth and even finish, but the casting shape made tool access more difficult than usual. Our team adjusted the fixture and changed the cutting parameters after the first trial piece.
After the adjustment, the finish became more stable. The remaining CNC Machined Valve Body parts were completed using the revised setup.
The first finished part was fully inspected before batch production continued. We checked the main dimensions against the drawing and confirmed that the machining program was suitable. Only after that did the workshop continue with the rest of the order.
The finished parts were cleaned after machining. Cutting oil, metal chips and dust were removed from the internal passages and threaded holes. This may look like a simple step, but poor cleaning can affect later assembly and inspection.
Each CNC Machined Valve Body was then checked again before packing. The inspection team used standard measuring tools according to the dimension type. For some positions, special gauges were used because ordinary calipers could not provide a reliable result.
The customer also requested material documents for this order. We prepared the related certificates and inspection records together with the shipment documents.
Our factory produces CNC Machined Valve Body parts for ball valves, gate valves, globe valves, check valves and other industrial valve designs. Materials can include carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex stainless steel and other alloys, depending on the service conditions.
Some customers send us complete drawings. Others provide only samples or rough castings. In both cases, we review the machining requirements before quotation. This helps us understand the actual work instead of giving a price based only on the outside size of the valve body.
For custom CNC Machined Valve Body projects, production quantity can range from several trial pieces to larger repeat orders. Small orders are often used for sample approval, while stable products may move into regular batch production later.
The latest batch has now passed final inspection and is ready for packing. The project was not unusual, but it showed again that stable valve-body machining depends on careful setup, repeated checking and clear communication between engineering, production and quality teams.
